THIAGO OUT OF BRENTFORD GAME

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara won’t be in the Premier League squad for the away game at London club Brentford this weekend after he picked up an injury last weekend. The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfield maestro suffered a calf problem during the Premier League home clash with London team Crystal Palace on Saturday. Thiago played his part in the game which ended in a 3-0 win thanks to the goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and substitute midfielder Naby Keita.


Spanish international Thiago and his Liverpool teammates were able to secure their place at the Premier League summit thanks to the big win over South London outfit Crystal Palace. Liverpool share top spot with rivals Chelsea in the Premier League. Continue Reading

HOW WILL ITALY FARE AT THE WORLD CUP NEXT YEAR?

A lot has been said about Italy and their chances of impressing at next year’s FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar following their heroics last month. The Azzuri defied all odds and became the eventual champions of the 2020-21 UEFA Euros tournament after a fine campaign under manager Roberto Mancini. Mancini guided Italy to the title in sublime fashion as he oversaw their spectacular campaign right from the group stage to the knockout stage and then to the final where they faced and defeated England on penalties to win the title in some style.

Some people say that the team was just lucky because they were not able to face the likes of France, Portugal, and Germany, who all got knocked out of the competition at the knockout stages. However, Italy did face Belgium, one of the highest-rated teams in the world and they defeated the Belgian Red Devils in what was a thrilling game of football during the knockout stage. And following their title triumph, the big question remains; will they impress at the World Cup next year?

Brighton and Hove Albion utility defender Ben White is on course to undergo his medical at Arsenal on Wednesday as he closes in on a big money move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal had been in discussions with the Seagulls over a deal for White before they reached an agreement for him several days ago. EURO 2020: SCHICK WINS GOAL AWARD

Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick has been the named the recipient of the best goal award at the just concluded Euro 2020 tournament. The Bayer Leverkusen star won the award for the best goal at Euro 2020 following his second strike against Scotland as he scored a brace to lead his country to a 2-0 win in their opening game of the tournament.

Schick beat nine others to emerge as the recipient forthe Euro 2020 Goal of the Tournament. The former AS Roma attacker had given the Czechs a well deserved lead in the first half of the game played at Hampden Park in Glasgow via a header at the expense of the hosts before he scored an audacious chip from the halfway line to double the lead for his country at the start of the second half. Schick spotted Scotland shot stopper David Marshall off his line before he produced the moment that led to him being crowned the recipient of the best goal scored at Euro 2020. Marshall was well off his line as his team tried to get back in the game and Schick took full advantage to hand his team the three points.
